She called "Daddy" FiRsT ....

Ya Ya Ya, she called "Daddy" first.

Ning Ning has started to babble a lot and on some days when her mood is good, she'll call "daddy" :)))... she'll babble dah-dah-dah, dee-dee-dee in no specific sequence. At some points, she even managed to pronounced "deh-dee" in her squeeky voice lol!

Some chinese old folklores actually said that if the baby call daddy first, then the dad have to work a lot harder for the family and vice versa. In chinese it means more hard work in life. Hmm.. I guess it is fine with me. Being able to hear Ning Ning called me "Daddy" give me the satisfaction feeling that can't be explained by words. To all the married couple with kids out there, you should know how I felt.

She Can Sit ... She can sit ...

First of all, I hope I won't be charged for coyright infringement. Hahaha. The photos and writing below, I captured it from SF's blog.

NingNing is now able to sit on her own! Yes. Nowadays, she refused to lie down as before and preferred to sit up and play. Most of the time, she would lose balance and tumble onto the bed/mattress and stay that way (yoga style) until we come to her rescue :P. It's always a funny sight!

She also found joy in shaking her head side-to-side lol... I think she's exploring her new ability just like how she used to keep twisting her hand in circular motion when she first learned how to do it (imagine the circular hands movement of a Malay dance :P). It's amusing especially when you ask her a question like "Are you a naughty baby?" and coincidentally she shakes her head in response as if to say "No" haha!...

NingNing likes it when SF sing twinkle twinkle little star and do the hand movements by opening and closing my hands as if they were twinkling stars. She has learned to do that as well! These few days, when SF was feeding her, she'll put up her hand near my face and start opening and closing her hands just as how SF did when singing the song. Funny! :)))

NingNing has started teething already. She salivates a lot, likes to bite her fingers (sometimes 4 to 5 fingers at one go!) and is experiencing a lost of appetite. Most of the time she could not finish 5oz of milk :(...

Anyway, seeing NingNing manage to sit on her own gave SF and myself a great satisfaction. It's like we've reached another major milestone in our journey as parents! :)))

Someone left me ...

Flash back to my history. Grandma taking care of me when I was young. If I'm not wrong, from I am still a baby till I am 4 years old. I am closer to grandma instead of grandpa. I hardly talked to my grandpa since he is a typical old chinese man with strong values. He looks very fierce to me. All that I heard from my aunt and uncle, grandpa don't really like me and it is very much because I'm a crying baby last time. Whenever I don't see grandma around, I felt insecure and cried. Hence people around me feel that I so troublesome. :p, guess I should not blame my grandpa for disliking me. Hahaha.

I still remember the good old days, where grandpa will come back from the orchard + rubber plantation at noon to have lunch at home. I can smell all the sweat and dried rubber whenever he came back after a long day at the orchard/rubber plantation. Grandpa will have a big soup bowl of rice for lunch. He like to eat meat a lot and very little vege. Yeah, basically grandpa is a meat eater. Grandpa would also mix the rice with plain water. I guess he don't like gravy and "watering" the rice will make it easier to swallow after a long hard day. I guess this also tight to the chinese culture where soup is a must must "dishes" for each meal. Grandpa also like salted fish and salted egg. Yeah, we come from a poor family and grandpa is very thrifty.

Sometime grandpa will bring me to the river nearby so that I can have my own sweet time. The water was very cold since it come straight down from the nearby hill. Grandpa like to have its evening shower there. This has been a practice for many years. Sometime I do fear the surroundings since it looks so eerie. Considering that the place was quite dark and covered by long grass. Ya ya, I always connect long grass with those "long long" animal. The snake. I have phobia against snake (this phobia inherited from my mom).

On the 15 Feb 2008, I received a call from dad in the morning. Dad told me that grandpa had just pass away that morning. I was like OMG but in away, I felt a relief for grandpa. It was my maternal grandpa. He is 83 this year. I quickly give SF a call to get ready with Ning Ning's clothes and we need to head back to hometown ASAP. I was still in the office at the time.

It is sad to see your family member pass away but in a way, I guess it is good for grandpa. Grandpa has been fighting bravely to stay strong ever since he fell down a year ago. Last year before CNY, grandpa fell down and lost its ability to move around. He is a diabetic level 3 (i guess the number is correct), where he relied on the insulin jab to balance its sugar blood. He also have hypertension. Ya ya, when a person aged, all kind of sickness will appear. One advice to the old folks out there, be extra careful in whatever you do and never never fall down.

I used to visit grandpa and bring him his favourite food. Since grandpa can't move his arms, I fed him the "wantan" by using spoon. He still can hear us and perhaps even recognized some of us. Ya he is also having alzheimier. So I asked (yell near to his ear) him, tasty or not the food. He will turn his face towards me and smile to me nod his head indicating that the food is great.

I find it hard to cry or perhaps, I have grown up and I look at things different. The journey in my life so far had also taught me to become a stronger person. During the prayer ceremony for grandpa, out of my knowledge I suddenly feel so sad that I no longer have grandpa, grandpa had left me. Tears just flowing down my chubby cheeks.

The only regret that I have is, grandpa never had chance to carry Ning Ning in his arms and Ning Ning never had the chance to meet her great grandpa.

Lesson to everyone, appreciate whatever you have now especially people arounds you. Have no regret.

Happy Valentine

We had a simple valentine this year considering that it is not convenient to bring Ning Ning out at night. We decided to celebrate it at home. Beside we have been spending quite a lot for the CNY.

Another thing also, mom-in-law was at our house in Puchong for few days. Hence there won't be any romantic dinner as we used to prepare at home.

For SF's present, I got a her a new handbag.

And in return she will bought me this little tiny penguin water dispenser .. but guess what .. my present went MIA .. wuahhhh

And I bought her a card from memory lane + the yummy cake below ... Look at the white chocolate .. it is so sinful ... hahahha

CNY

This CNY was a bit different because this time, we have Ning Ning by our side. As usual, I have to give SF angpao and in return, she will give me one also but of course, the contents was halves since this is a tradition between my dad and mom. So SF decided this "good" tradition need to be carried on.

It was quite a merry CNY in my hometown this year. Got lots of new "lion". On the 3rd day, we head back to Sungai Siput, SF's hometown. I expect less traffic going north, but out of my expectation, there was a heavy traffic at Simpang Pulai toll plaza. Jezz, I got stuck there for almost 1 hr.

Hmm, something that can't be missed from CNY is gambling. Playing "sam-kar" mahjong at home was quite challenging considering I have to face "lo shi fat" (my bro, bro-in-law, dad). I lost about 50 bucks... But my luck take a big turn. I was a big winner in Sungai Siput. Hahahaha .. won 2 breakfast money for 5 ppl.

Ning Ning got quite a lot of angpao this year. So I decided to open a savings account for Ning Ning to save money. Come to opening savings account, I would like to complaint again. I decided to open a bank account with Maybank since our monthly wages were forced to be bank in to Maybank (government rules, sighhh). This will be easier for SF and myself to transfer money to Ning Ning account.

So I bring Ning Ning's MyKid card to the bank. To my surprise, they said they do not recognize MyKid card, they insist that they want to see Ning Ning birth certificate. I was so piss off, that I scold them that to get MyKid card, I need birth certificate + a letter from the hospital to prove that Ning Ning was born legally and locally. Hence I suppose MyKid is equivalent to birth cert, beside the MyKid number is the same as birth certificate. I loudly told them if government recognized MyKid card and Maybank do not, then better still Maybank don't be the GLC and don't rely on government for support. Stupid bank. Sometimes I wonder why people being so stupid and idiot. Why can't people be a bit more flexible and use their brain more often. Sighh..
